Teaching & Mentoring

I aim to connect foundations in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and computer systems with hands-on practice and rigorous research. My experience includes supporting undergraduate and graduate cybersecurity instruction and mentoring Ph.D. students conducting research in AI security and privacy.

Teaching Experience

Tutor, School of Cybersecurity, Old Dominion University
Jan. 2023 – Aug. 2025

I provided supplemental instruction, helped students strengthen their understanding of cybersecurity concepts, and guided hands-on labs and attack-and-defense exercises.

Courses supported:

Graduate Research Mentoring

Postdoctoral Research Associate, Department of Computer Science, Iowa State University
Oct. 2025 – Present

I mentor Ph.D. students working in AI security and privacy, providing research guidance on problem formulation, methodology development, and experimental evaluation. I emphasize clear research questions, careful comparison with prior work, reproducible experiments, and the transition from executing assigned tasks to developing independent research judgment.

Courses I Am Interested in Teaching

Mentoring Approach

I see effective mentoring as a progression toward research independence. Students should learn to justify the importance of a problem, design sound experiments, understand the limits of their results, and communicate their contributions clearly. I value a combination of structured guidance, critical feedback, and growing ownership of research decisions.

Professional Service

Journal manuscript reviewing (2023–present). I have reviewed manuscripts for IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Transactions on Cloud Computing, IEEE Transactions on Services Computing, and IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing.
